CFC57 Happy Hour

It's that time again, time to do a little happy dance for last week's winners!
Looking for this week's challenge?  Just keep scrolling after you see who won.

The Girl Fridays loved sooo many of your creations and this week the voting was incredibly close with a mere 1 vote difference between the winner and the favorites!

Have you ever wondered just how the winners are chosen?
There is nothing random about it, and I do not do the choosing by myself.
After the challenge closes, the Girl Fridays each have the daunting task of narrowing the gallery down to their own top 10 favorite interpretations of the challenge theme.  To keep it fair, they send their votes in secretly to me so they don't accidentally influence each other.
It's hard because we have so many talented players who delight us each week.  I can't tell you how many times they plea to make it a top 20, and once it was even a top 50 request!
I then mark all their individual choices down on a tally sheet (18 Girl Fridays times 10 votes each equals a lot of tally marks!) to determine the collective top 10.

I  revisit these entries to verify that the rules have been followed:
* there is a link to the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge
* it's a new creation, and the posting date is not prior to the start of the challenge
* no more than 4 total challenges are linked to the entry
It always breaks my heart when a favorite gets disqualified, but rules are rules.
The verified entry with the most votes is declared the winner, and the top 4 after that are deemed favorites.
There you have it, the mystery of how we narrow down that fabulous gallery each week.
You can see the entire parade of past winners in the TGIF Club and VIPS tabs at the top of the blog!

Now it's your turn to vote on something...
I've thought about adding an honorable mention list for the remaining verified top 10.
What do you think?
Leave a comment with your vote and just for giggles, I'll give a prize to a random comment.

Let's hear it for the VIPs!
You may proudly display this snazzy badge on your blog!

And the winner is...
Fully Recovered1

You've earned the fantastic prize from

Yes, I think you ought to include an honorable mention list. I'm sure we'd all like to know if our own picks line up with the "Girl Fridays'." And as entrants, it would be fun to see how close we were...

Wow, interesting how the favorites & winner is chosen :) It would be awesome to have an honorable list for the top 10... or maybe top 5 (so the list wouldn't go on and on)

But love the idea :)

Thanks for picking me as one of your favorites. I agree with the majority - it's nice to see who else's work was deemed "honorable".

Thanks for sharing how the voting works. I suppose since you have all the tallies right there it would be "easy" to list the top 10, but I think it is more CAS as it is.

I'd love to see the honorable mention cards. The more inspiration the better. I get so many ideas from others work. Thanks!

I think that you should include an honorable mention so that they can be encouraged that their work/creations were just as good.

It's always fun to see your name highlighted so I think an honorable mention list would be fun if it isn't too much work for you! The winners this week are great!

Geri said...

Wow! That is a whole lot of work to ensure fairness in judging! Your time is much appreciated. An honorable mention list would be awesome (and more work for you) because who doesn't like seeing their name up in lights!!!

There are always so many fantastic entries each week. I think an honorable mention list would be great!

I prefer keeping things the way they are. I kinda feel the top winners get somewhat diminished once you start making a big list of names, KWIM?

Yolanda said...

My crafty goal for the year is to make into the VIPs. I would like to see the verified top ten in an honorable mention list. No more than that though.

Nancy Guse said...

Yes I would like to see the honorable mentioned, then we could see if we were close to winning.

Tania said...

I think I like it the way it is although I guess it gives somebody else another chance to feel encouraged about their work too ;o)
